Overview

We are demonstrating natural marine restoration materials designed to provide substrates for seaweed growth. DAIKEN, which has extensive experience developing and manufacturing interior building materials, leads material development, while Leave a Nest and Taisei Namacon support planning and monitoring. The project aims to restore marine organisms and environments and improve the richness of the ocean.

Technology strengths

Multiple materials with different structures and compositions are being tested in Mitoyo, Kagawa, to identify effective approaches for seaweed growth. Taisei Namacon is leading surveys of recovery and seaweed-bed formation during the demonstration.

Use case

Since January 2025, field trials have been conducted in cooperation with Mitoyo City and the Takuma Fisheries Cooperative Association, whose members have long worked in local fisheries.
